Staying positive!

Everyone at SITI has been incredibly involved for 4 hours each day. There has been some good learning and lots of hard work (despite the usual glitches) aimed at getting next year ready to go. Take a moment to tell everyone what's been going well for you this week. Maybe it's the exact project you had in mind, or it's something new you hadn't even thought about before. Whatever it is, click on comments below, briefly share what's good this week, then sign your name. We'll all be encouraged by one another's efforts!

Somebody's gotta go first, so I will...
The ideas for improving communication through web pages for elementary classes are super. Parents, students and teachers all will benefit from your work creating sites for your important information sharing. It's definitely worth the effort!

Throughout the week I have had the chance to learn about a wide array of technology integration. Being in a setting with other educators to discuss what works and what doesn't in helpful too. I think this course and other educators are important tools in preparing our students in being life-long learners.

Creating a web page is bigger than I ever thought it could be. It's amazing all the different links and formats that are obtainable. It is definately a work in progress that I enjoy working on.

Well, here we are on Day 4! The beginning of the week was frustrating for everyone. Company is good. Now we are all moving on with a product in view.

I am looking forward to seeing my goal of a web page in sight! The Google format is working quite well. It is a starting point.

This class helped me in my decision to want to buy my new computer. I am excited to receive it and try some of the new technology I have learned. I am also excited to use a different format for our Academic Night in Sept. (power point). I was finally able to get most of that together. Thanks.

We've learned a ton of information that now has to be synthesized but we are hopeful that all will go well once we are out of your hands.

I am finally getting to edit and burn digital movies with my Mac and external DVD burner. I learned about some websites in NovelList and Marvel that I can use next year. I am looking forward to learning about blogging and using them with my students. I would like to make a website some time soon. I made one ten years ago but haven't used it since.
Thanks!

I have learned a lot. But I am excited to be able to set up a web page, to use with parents. I have lots of ideas of how to use tech. with my students.

I have learned a lot of new technology information. It has been tricky trying to start a web page for my classroom, but I think we are moving in the right direction and I believe we will get it. I think it is an important communication tool for parents and I hope it will make a difference this fall. I appreciate all of the support!

All the new information has my head spinning! Creating a web page has turned out to be a rather complicated undertaking. Thankfully, I have my team here going through the growing pains with me. We are now ready to try a third way to create our web pages. Maybe third time's the charm!

I have been scribbling notes like crazy about all the cool resources available on the web. Surfing could eat up many hours this summer. I find it all fascinating and at the same time, overwhelming! The staff has been very supportive. Thanks for your patience with us!

I am so glad I decided to take this class. - there is so much to learn.
I hope I can remember it all. I still would like to create a web page before this class ends. It's been great learning from each other. There is so much expertise in this room.

M. Burns: I have had a very productive week. I have worked on my website adding many new features and fixing some glitches that have bugged me all year. I have also worked on some new word documents. I have also work on creating a student activity packet to supplement all the Foss science units. This is a super place to learn more about technology and get ready for Sept.

I am excited that I was able to start my web page yesterday. Hopefully my final product will be something that the parents will find helpful.

I am impressed by the amount of learning taking place. It is wonderful to see people come back and build upon what they had previously learned.

I am excited about my web page! It is going to be something that I will continue to work on. This is going to be an excellent way to communicate with my students and their parents.

Steve, I am looking forward to sitting on my porch this summer with my lap top!

As usual, this academy has been such a great experience. I have been a part of this academy for many years and am always enlightened by discovering new products, websites, and programs that are available.

I have made a few movies using photos from my classroom and have also learned a lot about Google homepages. I have also spent time "cleaning up" my documents and files and also have updated my webpage. I am looking forward to learning more about Smartboards and blogging today and tomorrow.

As always, the staff has been simply maaavelous and oh so helpful!

Thanks,
Robin

I am still learning new tricks! Increasing my search skils, updating a web site, exploring case-e, developing new Power Point ideas for my students, and generally picking up on the excitement for using technology in the classroom.

I'm discovering programs and skills that I never knew I had. Movie Maker is a really fun and fairly easy way to organize, present and share photos (and eventually video). I've continued to develop Power point skills and am beginning to discover more of the ways that it can be used.I've gained confidence in my ability to problem solve, even if it takes a while! This is a great course! Very patient instructors!

I think it is a good idea to filter, the really bad stuff but the sites that could be educational shouldn't. It was hard in this class because trying to set up web sites, etc. should be considered educational and our students should be able to use this in a class.
